Wine Route

The Maipo Valley has had since immemorial times, excellent climatic conditions for the production and cultivation of the vine. The first Chilean vineyards were located in the Maipo Valley.

Location
The Maipo Valley extends in the natural surroundings of the metropolitan area, with Santiago, Pirque, Puente Alto, Buin, Isla de Maipo, Talagante and Melipilla, as the most representative wine sectors. The valley limits to the east with the Andes Mountain Range where the rivers Maipú and Mapocho descend; on the west it borders the Cordillera de la Costa. The natural decline that the Maipo Valley has goes from east to west ranging from 1,000 to 500 masl. The vineyards extend in the mid-altitude slopes. In total, the valley has 8,083 hectares of vineyard.

Main Strains
The beneficial climate, makes the Cabernet Sauvignon, excel between the strains. However, the ground of the Maipo Valley grows Merlot, Carmenère, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
